Where you can earn: Pages, professional mode and pro accounts

The short version

Only public content on a Facebook Page or a profile in professional mode can earn on Facebook. On Instagram you need a professional account.

What it means for you

Your personal Facebook profile can't earn unless you switch on professional mode. Facebook Pages, Events and Groups are also eligible surfaces.

On Instagram, every payout program asks for a professional (creator or business) account. Some, like Creator Marketplace and affiliates, also need it to be public.

✓ Do

  • Turn on professional mode, or create a Page, before you chase any program.
  • Keep monetized content public. Private or friends-only posts don't count.

✕ Don't

  • Expect earnings from a personal profile that isn't in professional mode.
