Brand Deals
Sponsorships, free products, affiliate links and partnership ads. How to take the deal without losing the account.
What counts as branded content
If a brand gives you money or free stuff and it shows up in or shapes your content, it's branded content.
Use the Paid Partnership label
Branded content must use the Paid Partnership label with the brand tagged, and the brand must agree to be tagged first.
Products you can never promote
Some categories are banned from branded content entirely, including vapes, weapons, MLMs and payday loans.
Restricted brands need age limits
Alcohol, subscriptions, financial products, cosmetic surgery, weight loss and contraceptives are allowed only with an age restriction.
Partners that need Meta's written approval
Dating, gambling, pharmacies, prescription drugs, crypto, rehab centers and political partners need Meta's prior written authorization.
Formatting rules for sponsored videos
No pre-roll, mid-roll, post-roll or banner ads, and no title cards in the first 3 seconds.
Don't get paid to post other people's content
You can't accept anything of value to post content that doesn't feature you or that you didn't help create.
Who can post branded content
You need a Page, professional-mode profile or Instagram professional account, a clean record and an established presence.
Partnership ads: letting brands boost you
Brands can run ads from your handle, but only with your permission, which you can revoke any time.
Fake or incentivized reviews
Meta's Community Standards ban fake reviews and reviews given in exchange for discounts or freebies.
